New TV Console?

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

It's no secret that I hate our TV stand [I started to type "entertainment center," but that's just a joke]. See a picture of it here. {Note: the poorly-taken picture emphasizes just how horrible it really is.} {Another note stemming from that old post: we now have cable again, but I do not watch it! I watch re-runs of The West Wing instead, much to my hubs's dismay.}

I've been browsing Overstock. Haven't found anything perfect yet, but here are a few that've caught my eye....

I like the hinges on the first and the library-catalog-esque style of the second. And the latter? Well... it is kind of speaking to me -- I think. I like the clean lines, and I like the door handles. But I'm inclined not to want glass doors on a console -- if you have a bunch of stuff and/or wires it can look very cluttered, but I guess there's always the option of doing something like this. And since our TV has a DVD player built into it, all we have is a little Roku player that isn't terribly unsightly. And I have a few of these penguin classics that could look pretty stacked in such a cabinet! {But if I'm honest... I really do lean away from glass in TV consoles.}

I know I've said {and linked to} this before, but I would really just like a piece of campaign furniture to paint. {Scroll down in that post to see Jenny's transformation of a $60 craigslist find... I'm so jealous!!!} However, realistically, that might never happen. I keep searching craiglist, but haven't found anything yet.

So what do you think? Settle? Or keep holding out?

{UGH. I think I need to hold out. The third one is okay... but I really want campaign! First-world problem, I know... but still. It's my first-world problem. Sigh.}

Your current one really isn't that bad, so I say hold out until you see something you can't live without. In the mean time, maybe some cute colorful baskets for the open part above the drawers? I saw some fun ones at World Market and they were really inexpensive.

Solution: Move to SoCal! Our craigslist is far superior..

I like the first one the best and the third one the least. I think I usually think the opposite of you. :) The frosted glass...meh. But you are way smarter than me on this stuff. I think the campaign furniture might be a good thing to wait for. No one can say anything bad about that.

The library catalog design is nice, but I would only get it if the dimensions of the drawers allow storage of DVDs or CDs or something else I'm already collecting.

Say something...
